Kinders and SHARK

KINDERS
The Blackfoot Community Center offers a program especially designed for Kinders. We provide before school childcare for kindergarten children that attend afternoon kindergarten at the Irving Kindergarten Center from 8:00 am to 11:45 am. We then take the children to school and pick them up for the afterschool SHARK program. We also provide childcare for those Kinders who attend morning kindergarten and need care from 11:15 am until normal SHARK hours begin.
Kinder rate: $2.50 per hour
(as invoiced, based on attendance before afterschool program hours)

Sample (for example purposes only, based on am kindergarten):
$2.50 per hour x 3 hours per day (10:30-1:30 M, 11:30-2:30 T-F)= $7.50
$7.50 per day x 5 days weekly = $37.50 per wk x 4.3 weeks per month= $161.00 monthly

plus $50.00 monthly SHARK fees (1/2 price for siblings) = $211.00 monthly

Kinder activities include snacks, transportation to and from the Irving Kindergarten Center, homework help and educationally-enriched activities, open arts and crafts, literacy building activities, music and movement games,  plenty of recess and playtime, and more!

SCUBA stands for Students Conquering Un-Believable Achievements

SCUBA Summer Camp is a leadership development program targeted for youth ages 12-14 that will be entering the 6th - 10th grade fall of 2013.

There is NO FEE for the program as it is fully funded through a Department of Education 21st Century Community Learning Center grant.

For participants 13 years or older wanting to do the Ula ahi Youth Counselor elective (assisting with the younger kids program), a Background Check through Health and Welfare - $60.00 is required.

The program focuses are:
  •  character development
  •   service-learning and citizenship
  •  entrepreneurship and career exploration
  •  life skills, including fitness and health

Program Goal:  It is the mission of the Blackfoot Community Center to empower youth, families, and our community by providing opportunities for healthy emotional, social, physical, and cognitive growth.  We seek to be a catalyst for positive youth development.  The SCUBA Youth Summer Program is one more way that we are working to fulfill this mission.   Our programs offer a positive approach to preventing at-risk behaviors and instill character and core values such as responsibility, trustworthiness, respect, fairness, teamwork, and build self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy.
Participants will enjoy challenging activities while learning new skills and refining old ones.  They will also engage in meaningful service-learning activities that are developed and implemented by the youth themselves.
